題目:PEARL: Performance, Energy, and Reliability Balanced Dynamic Data Redistribution for Next Generation Disk Arrays
摘要:Current disk arrays consist purely of hard disk drives, which normally provide huge storage capacities with low-cost and high-throughput for data-intensive applications. Nevertheless, they have some inherent disadvantages such as long access latencies and energy-inefficiency due to their build-in mechanical mechanisms. Flash-memory based solid state disks, on the other hand, although currently more expensive and inadequate in write cycles, offer much faster random read accesses and are much more robust and energy efficient. To combine the complementary merits of hard disks and flash disks, in this project we propose a hybrid disk array architecture named HIT (hybrid disk storage) for data-intensive applications. Next, a dynamic data redistribution strategy called PEARL (performance,energy,andreliability balanced), which can periodically redistribute data between flash disks and hard disks to adapt to the changing data access patterns, is developed on top of the HIT architecture.
報(bào)告人簡(jiǎn)介:謝濤博士是美國(guó)圣地亞哥州立大學(xué)計(jì)算機(jī)科學(xué)系的終身副教授。主要研究領(lǐng)域?yàn)楦咝阅苡?jì)算、存儲(chǔ)系統(tǒng)、集群及網(wǎng)格計(jì)算、并行處理、分布式系統(tǒng)、實(shí)時(shí)嵌入式系統(tǒng)、動(dòng)態(tài)資源管理及性能評(píng)估。主持過多項(xiàng)美國(guó)國(guó)家科學(xué)基金項(xiàng)目。在IEEE Transactions on Parallel and Distributed Systems, ACM Transactions on Storage,IEEE Transactions on Computers,ACM Transactions on Embedded Computing System等國(guó)際刊物和會(huì)議上發(fā)表論文約50余篇,擔(dān)任IEEE Transactions on Computers,IEEE Transactions on Parallel and Distributed Systems,IEEE Transactions on Knowledge and Data Engineering等多種雜志和國(guó)際會(huì)議的審稿人,并擔(dān)任過多次國(guó)際會(huì)議的專題主席。2010年獲得了圣地亞哥州立大學(xué)科學(xué)學(xué)院杰出教授獎(jiǎng),2009年獲得美國(guó)國(guó)家科學(xué)基金會(huì)早期科研生涯獎(jiǎng),2007年獲得Langmuir獎(jiǎng)提名。
