報告題目:Massive MIMO新領(lǐng)悟:無窮多天線能否帶來無窮容量?

報告摘要:

It is well known that the massive multiple-input multiple-output (massive MIMO) system has potential to boost the channel’s beamforming gain that is also called as array gain or power gain. Specifically, the capacity of a massive MIMO channel may increase logarithmically with the number of antennas, which implies that infinitely massive antennas may achieve an infinite capacity, even with a finite power constraint at the transmitter. However, the above exciting result is based on a key assumption that the instantaneous fading coefficients are perfectly known to the receiver/transmitter (perfect CSIR/CSIT). In general, CSIR and CSIT entail channel training and feedback, and the overhead associated with training and feedback may in turn affect the channel capacity. Therefore, it remains open if a massive MIMO system could still provide a significant capacity benefit as we expected. In this talk, we will answer the following question: Can infinitely massive antennas always achieve an infinite capacity in a massive MIMO channel?

報告人簡介

Jinyuan Chen is an Assistant Professor at Louisiana Tech University. Before joining Louisiana Tech, he was a postdoctoral scholar at Stanford University from 2014 to 2016. He received the PhD degree from Telecom ParisTech in 2013, the M.Sc. degree from Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications in 2010, and the B.Sc. degree from Tianjin University in 2007. His research interests include information theory and communication theory, as well as their applications in wireless networks, physical layer security, distributed storage, distributed computing, big data and bioinformatics.
