The Pinching-Antenna System (PASS) represents a revolutionary advancement in flexible antenna technology,which enhances wireless communication by establishing strong line-of-sight connectivity, minimizing free-space path loss, and enabling dynamic reconfiguration of antenna arrays. This talk will introduce the basic principles of PASS based on a prototype and explore how PASS transforms communication systems from a conventional wireless paradigm towards a near-wired paradigm. The talk will also cover the physics principles and signal modeling techniques behind PASS, the activation method of pinching antennas, and the transmission structures. Several case studies will be discussed to showcase PASS capabilities, including performance analysis, beamforming design, and the integration of deep learning. Finally, the talk will highlight key research challenges and outline promising opportunities for future exploration in this innovative technology.

劉元瑋,香港大學(xué)電機及電子工程系長聘教授,IEEE Fellow,AAIA Fellow,科睿唯安全球高被引研究者(2021至今)。研究興趣包括新一代多址接入技術(shù),通信感知一體化,RIS輔助通信,近場通信,邊緣生成。入選2022年《麻省理工科技評論》中國區(qū)“35歲以下科技創(chuàng)新35人”榜單;擔(dān)任IEEE通信學(xué)會和車載技術(shù)學(xué)會杰出講師;擔(dān)任IEEE通信學(xué)會“新一代多址接入(NGMA)”新興技術(shù)倡議委員會學(xué)術(shù)主席;獲得2020年IEEE通信學(xué)會歐洲、中東和非洲地區(qū)杰出青年學(xué)者獎;獲得2021年IEEE通信學(xué)會杰出青年專家提名獎;獲得2021年IEEE通信理論技術(shù)委員會早期成就獎;獲得2020年IEEE通信信號處理與計算技術(shù)委員會早期成就獎等;獲得4項最佳論文獎。目前擔(dān)任IEEE ComSoc Technical Newsletter聯(lián)合主編(Co-Editor-in-Chief),IEEE TCOM/CL領(lǐng)域編委(Area Editor),IEEE COMST/TWC/TCCN /TVT/TNSE編委和Proceedings of IEEE/IEEE JSAC/JSTSP等(首席)客座編委,擔(dān)任歐洲電信標(biāo)準(zhǔn)協(xié)會(ETSI)RIS Industry Specification Group Work Item 6的報告人,擔(dān)任國際無線電科學(xué)聯(lián)盟(URSI)委員會C“無線電通信系統(tǒng)和信號處理”的英國區(qū)代表。
